Last Day of Summer Excursion

Last Day of Summer - Sunrise, Mt. Rainier, Washington USA

Just a few days ago, we had a torrential rainstorm here locally.  Because of the heavy rain, most of the nearby higher mountains got snow! But today was one of those rare beautiful sunny fall days in the Pacific Northwest – especially for the last day of summer.  So very early this morning we jumped in the car, and drove up to Sunrise, Mt. Rainier, Washington (USA). We saw an elk (ignoring us) and Skip spotted a huge bear paw print in the mud (luckily no bears nearby!)  We went for a small hike and came upon this incredible view … Read more

Hello World!

1963 MGB Roadster

Hello everyone – Skip and I hope you are safe and healthy! Like you, we felt we were just coming out of the fog from a COVID-19 world, – ready to travel and explore again!  We spent the spring and early summer planning once again and readying ourselves for adventures. But unfortunately, we are once again “welcoming” some setbacks with a new Delta Variant, forest fires and a changing world. Scary! Sometimes if feels like it would be better to crawl into a cave – we understand! But Skip and I, like you, are trying to adapt to this rapidly … Read more

Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

Yellow Tulips, Skagit Valley, Washington, USA

The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is a great place to visit as the weather turns warmer.  Located in LaConner, Washington, USA – there are thousands of flowers bursting with color this time of year.  Officially, the festival starts April 1st each year.  The tulips are just about to bloom!  Below is a photo I took previously when we visited the farms.  Isn’t this a beautiful landscape of color!?!?!

Deer With Apple Snacks – Renton, Washington, USA

Deer With Apple Snacks - Renton, Washington, USA

Since the pandemic began, Skip and I have tried very hard to motivate ourselves to walk at least a mile early every day (rain, shine or snow – not so easy!).  It is a great habit to get into, and the best part is we get to enjoy our neighborhood very early in the morning.  Yesterday, we came upon this sweet deer who had been munching on all the nearby apples.  I pulled out my cell phone and snapped this great photo. We tried to be friendly, but he seemed much more interested in the apples than us!  Doesn’t this … Read more

Enjoying Fall Colors

Fall Colors - Renton, Washington USA

We decided to get out and about and went to one of our favorite local parks – Gene Coulon Memorial Park.  The colors are bright and beautiful!  I captured this great shot while Skip watched my back from oncoming (distracted) traffic.  Aren’t these colors amazing!?!?

Yaquina Head Lighthouse, Oregon, USA

Yaquina Head Lighthouse, Oregon, USA

Have you been traveling this year? Like us, you’ve probably put traveling on hold due to the pandemic, and of course many destinations are still closed. So while we are all “on-hold”, Skip and I thought we would share photographs from some of the great places we previously visited.  If you see a travel destination you are interested in – please make a note so you can visit in the future! Our first travel destination to share is the Yaquina Head Lighthouse located in Oregon, USA near the mouth of the Yaquina River near Newport at Yaquina Head. The lighthouse … Read more

Green Sunbather, Hawaii, USA

Green Sunbather, Hawaii, USA

With all that is occurring right now in the world, Skip and I have decided to pause our long distance travel.  We will still share some local and past events with you over time. This will give me time to rebuild the website – I know you will enjoy new ideas we have planned!  But in the meantime, we just wanted to say stay safe and healthy, and take time to be kind to others during this stressful time.  Thank you for all your support in following our adventures!

Kealakekua Bay, Hawaii, USA

Kealakekua Bay, Hawaii, USA

We are back from traveling and I can’t wait to share more photographs! We visited the Island of Hawaii – a beautiful island!! At Kaupulehu Ahupua’a, Kealakekua Bay,  (along the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai in Kailua-Kona) – there is a beautiful easy walking public path that winds around the resort. The segment of the trail is also identified as a traditional route for the huaka’i po, a nighttime procession of the spirits of deceased residents of the area. You can walk for miles and see spectacular sights! I captured this great view at the beginning of the trail – isn’t … Read more
