Birdhouse Too Small!

Birdhouse Too Small, Renton, WA, USA

Skip and I can’t believe it is almost the end of the year – where has the time gone!?! This year I have been a bit behind on posting and sharing but I promise to do better in 2023!  Isn’t that what resolutions are all about?  In the meantime, here is a photograph I captured recently of a Pileated Woodpecker who really is enjoying the suet on our bird feeder – although I think we might need a bigger birdhouse!  Isn’t this a magnificent bird!?!?!  Did you notice the Chickadee at the very top waiting (somewhat) patiently for the woodpecker … Read more

Deer With Apple Snacks - Renton, Washington, USA

Since the pandemic began, Skip and I have tried very hard to motivate ourselves to walk at least a mile early every day (rain, shine or snow – not so easy!).  It is a great habit to get into, and the best part is we get to enjoy our neighborhood very early in the morning.  Yesterday, we came upon this sweet deer who had been munching on all the nearby apples.  I pulled out my cell phone and snapped this great photo. Bald Eagle, Cape Flattery, Washington, USA

Bald Eagle, Cape Flattery, Washington, USA

While driving on a back road near Cape Flattery, Washington, USA we saw several bald eagles perched high in the trees. There really wasn’t a spot to stop to take pictures, and large 18 wheeler log trucks were whizzing by! But somehow, my ingenious husband found a slim spot to pull off the road so I could setup a tripod to catch a close-up of this amazing bird. It was a lucky shot, because just seconds later, they all flew off to a different location. Isn’t this an amazing close-up?!?!?!

Red Tail Hawk – Washington, USA

Red Tail Hawk - Washington, USA

During the warmer months, we get up early and have coffee in our backyard.  Recently we have had a new visitor swooping in. During one of our coffee mornings, a huge bird flew just over us. I ditched the coffee, grabbed my camera and captured this photograph of a beautiful Red Tail Hawk resting in a pine tree.  Although my coffee got cold, I got a great shot!  Isn’t this a magnificent bird!?!?!?

Halloween Spider, Renton, Washington, USA

Halloween Spider, Renton, Washington, USA

I am absolutely petrified of spiders, but in honor of Halloween, I thought I would share this shot I captured of a creepy spider. Thank goodness I had a long lens so I did not have to get too close! Doesn’t this picture almost make your skin crawl?!?!?!
