This year, spring has been unusually cool and wet for us in Western Washington. We love the rain (most of the time anyways), but my normal flower planting is still somewhat on hold. A good side of all this rain, is it has been an exceptional year for our Rhododendron. I took a close-up one morning and captured one of the “Rhodie” flowers. Isn’t this flower absolutely beautiful?!?!?
Skip and I can’t believe it is almost the end of the year – where has the time gone!?! This year I have been a bit behind on posting and sharing but I promise to do better in 2023! Isn’t that what resolutions are all about? In the meantime, here is a photograph I captured recently of a Pileated Woodpecker who really is enjoying the suet on our bird feeder – although I think we might need a bigger birdhouse! Today in Renton (Washington, USA), the afternoon weather was cold, but beautiful – a rare day of sunshine! Although I am a bit “rusty” from the soggy weather and still recovering somewhat from rib surgery last year, I just couldn’t resist. I grabbed my camera and with Skip’s help, we setup all the equipment and tripod. I waited for the right moment (pretending not to be cold!) and was able to capture this wonderful sunset. Isn’t this a beautiful landscape!!?!

Since the pandemic began, Skip and I have tried very hard to motivate ourselves to walk at least a mile early every day (rain, shine or snow – not so easy!). It is a great habit to get into, and the best part is we get to enjoy our neighborhood very early in the morning. We decided to get out and about and went to one of our favorite local parks – Gene Coulon Memorial Park. The colors are bright and beautiful! I captured this great shot while Skip watched my back from oncoming (distracted) traffic. Aren’t these colors amazing!?!?
As you know, Gene Coulon Park, Renton, Washington, USA is one of our favorite parks nearby. What you may not be aware of, is this park is a great place to also enjoy the holiday lights in December – absolutely beautiful! From our house to yours, wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season!
I couldn’t resist sharing one more amazing flower close-up I captured from the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden, in Washington, USA. This beauty was barely visible when walking on the path and was almost hidden deep under brush. Isn’t this a magnificent flower!?!?!
