Skip and I are just back from traveling Northern California! Our first major trip throughout this pandemic – a bucket list for us! We first stopped at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park in Orick, California. Poor Skip – I made him stop multiple times – I swear I photographed every tree! We were absolutely amazed and humbled by the incredible beauty of this area. Isn’t this an amazing landscape?!?!?!
This year, spring has been unusually cool and wet for us in Western Washington. We love the rain (most of the time anyways), but my normal flower planting is still somewhat on hold. A good side of all this rain, is it has been an exceptional year for our Rhododendron. I took a close-up one morning and captured one of the “Rhodie” flowers. Isn’t this flower absolutely beautiful?!?!?
Have you ever thought how old some redwood trees are? We were amazed! We explored the Avenue of Giants in Humboldt County, California (a 31-mile stretch of road in Northern California surrounded by massive coastal redwoods). This tree trunk is just outside the ranger’s station and includes markers throughout the centuries. Isn’t this absolutely incredible?!?!
Skip and I can’t believe it is almost the end of the year – where has the time gone!?! This year I have been a bit behind on posting and sharing but I promise to do better in 2023! Isn’t that what resolutions are all about? In the meantime, here is a photograph I captured recently of a Pileated Woodpecker who really is enjoying the suet on our bird feeder – although I think we might need a bigger birdhouse! Today’s headline said it is just 30 days until spring – I can’t wait! Still a bit cool here in the Pacific Northwest – so I thought I would share a close-up of a beautiful Valentine Rose in a bouquet that Skip gave me. Isn’t this a vibrant and beautiful color!?!?!!
Today in Renton (Washington, USA), the afternoon weather was cold, but beautiful – a rare day of sunshine! Although I am a bit “rusty” from the soggy weather and still recovering somewhat from rib surgery last year, I just couldn’t resist. I grabbed my camera and with Skip’s help, we setup all the equipment and tripod. I waited for the right moment (pretending not to be cold!) and was able to capture this wonderful sunset. Isn’t this a beautiful landscape!!?!
