Morning Sunshine – Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, California, USA

Morning Sunshine - Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, California, USA

Skip and I are just back from traveling Northern California!  Our first major trip throughout this pandemic – a bucket list for us! We first stopped at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park in Orick, California. Poor Skip – I made him stop multiple times – I swear I photographed every tree!  We were absolutely amazed and humbled by the incredible beauty of this area.  Isn’t this an amazing landscape?!?!?!

Yaquina Head Tide Pools, Oregon, USA

Yaquina Head Tide Pools, Newport Oregon, USA

Near the Yaquina Lighthouse (in Newport Oregon, USA) is an amazing trail which navigates down to the Yaquina Head Tide Pools.  It is a bit of a trek navigating down the stairs, but well worth the hike. I took this photograph at the lower viewing platform during high tide – which was coming in FAST!  If you are near the Oregon Coast, USA, make sure to visit the tide pools with the black beach.  Isn’t this absolutely amazing beach!?!?!

Redwood Trunk Timeline

Redwood Trunk Timeline - Avenue of the Giants, California, USA

Have you ever thought how old some redwood trees are? We were amazed!  We explored the Avenue of Giants in Humboldt County, California (a 31-mile stretch of road in Northern California surrounded by massive coastal redwoods). This tree trunk is just outside the ranger’s station and includes markers throughout the centuries. Isn’t this absolutely incredible?!?!

Winter Sunset

Winter Sunset, Renton, Washington, USA

Today in Renton (Washington, USA), the afternoon weather was cold, but beautiful – a rare day of sunshine!  Although I am a bit “rusty” from the soggy weather and still recovering somewhat from rib surgery last year, I just couldn’t resist. I grabbed my camera and with Skip’s help, we setup all the equipment and tripod.  I waited for the right moment (pretending not to be cold!) and was able to capture this wonderful sunset.  Isn’t this a beautiful landscape!!?!

Happy New Year – 2022!

Winter Monsters, Washington, USA

Hello World – we have missed you!  The past year has derailed us a bit to share posts – but we want to start the New Year posting again!  Skip and I have mapped out some great travel plans in 2022 – hopefully this year the world will be a little bit less complicated.  We look forward to reconnecting with you during the New Year! Please visit our updated website at www.skipandsusan.com.  I will start by sharing this great photograph taken by Skip of some “monsters” just near our home during the recent BIG snow in Seattle.  Isn’t this a … Read more

Last Day of Summer Excursion

Last Day of Summer - Sunrise, Mt. Rainier, Washington USA

Just a few days ago, we had a torrential rainstorm here locally.  Because of the heavy rain, most of the nearby higher mountains got snow! But today was one of those rare beautiful sunny fall days in the Pacific Northwest – especially for the last day of summer.  So very early this morning we jumped in the car, and drove up to Sunrise, Mt. Rainier, Washington (USA). We saw an elk (ignoring us) and Skip spotted a huge bear paw print in the mud (luckily no bears nearby!)  We went for a small hike and came upon this incredible view … Read more
