St. Joseph Church, Maui, USA

St. Joseph Church, Maui, USA

While traveling the backside of Haleakela (Maui, Hawaii, USA) on the Road to Hana (between mile markers 33 and 34), we unexpectantly discovered St. Joseph Church that was established in 1862! Located adjacent to the church are ruins of the Rectory as well as the cistern. In researching this church, we discovered that it continues to serve – the 150th Anniversary Mass and Celebration was in 2012. Another interesting fact is Charles Lindberg’s grave is adjacent to this church.   If you are in the area on the Road to Hana – it is definitely worth a stop to check … Read more

Can you imagine flying these – aren’t these amazing aircraft!!?!?

Stanza dell’Incendio di Borgo, Rome, Italy

Stanza dell'Incendio di Borgo, Rome, Italy

I thought you would enjoy some of my favorite photographs I captured when we were traveling in Europe a few years ago! I captured this breath taking close-up while we were at the Vatican, Rome, Italy. This artwork is one of the many murals in a room called “Stanza dell’Incendio di Borgo”. The Vatican website indicates that this room was used during the time of Julius II (pontiff from 1503 to 1513). Isn’t this artwork absolutely incredible?!?!?!

Red Amaryllis - Renton, Washington, USA

In the Pacific Northwest (Washington, USA), the days are getting darker much earlier, and we are in our typical rainy, cloudy, cooler November. So to bring a bit of happiness and brightness to the clouds, here is a beautiful red Amaryllis I captured. Isn’t this an incredible color!?!?!?

Bald Eagle, Cape Flattery, Washington, USA

Bald Eagle, Cape Flattery, Washington, USA

While driving on a back road near Cape Flattery, Washington, USA we saw several bald eagles perched high in the trees. There really wasn’t a spot to stop to take pictures, and large 18 wheeler log trucks were whizzing by! But somehow, my ingenious husband found a slim spot to pull off the road so I could setup a tripod to catch a close-up of this amazing bird. It was a lucky shot, because just seconds later, they all flew off to a different location. Isn’t this an amazing close-up?!?!?!

Icicle Gorge, Leavenworth, Washington, USA

Icicle Gorge, Leavenworth, Washington, USA

Near Leavenworth, Washington, USA is a beautiful trailhead called Icicle Gorge Trailhead. Skip and I were fortunate enough to hit the trail on a beautiful fall day earlier this month. The trailhead is about 4 miles long and winds gracefully around Icicle Creek. The leaves were fully bursting with color! We decided to leave the heavy camera equipment at home so we could hike and take in the beauty of the day. But even without the pro equipment, I could not resist taking photographs to share.  I captured this incredible landscape with an an iPhone! Isn’t this a beautiful landscape!?!?! … Read more

Gorge Creek Bridge, North Cascades Highway, Washington, USA

Gorge Creek Bridge, North Cascades Highway, Washington, USA

If you have been following my posts, you will remember that I am extremely afraid of heights!  Despite that, I try hard to persevere (while hanging onto Skip for balance of course!). While on the North Cascades Highway, in Washington, USA, there is an incredible bridge lookout across Gorge Creek. The bridge is an open (!!) steel arch with a steel deck about 181 feet long. Gorge Creek is directly 300 feet below!  In spite of my panic about this situation, I managed to walk to the center of the bridge. Skip gave me this great idea to sit down … Read more
